The most common mean sprouts from the name Amethyst itself. Not everyone is superstitious, but there is plenty of meaning that is believed to be possessed by the Amethyst rock. The ultraviolet rays can easily distort and even fade the natural color of the rock – devaluing the rock. Because much of the Amethyst color characteristic derives from its exposure to earths elements, owners of this precious rock need to protect it from direct sunlight exposure.
